95 & 97 Farnborough Road, Farnham were are pair of semis under single ownership. One semi had been a corner shop and post office with flat above, and the other side had been converted into offices on both floors and then left vacant for 8 years.
This project was a joint venture. Initially we looked at demolishing it and starting from scratch, but there would not have been a good enough return to make it a viable. We chose to convert the properties into 4 two-bed flats, and apply for planning permission to build a pair of semi-detatched three-bed town houses in the car park.
The shop and flat were converted under permitted development, and it took 18 months to get planning for the new buildings, which included going to appeal. The conversion work was finished in roughly 18 months, and all 4 flats were sold shortly after.
